DEAR MEMBERS OF THE PV INDUSTRY FORUM:

1.   As many of you know, NFPA has released the 2014 NEC Report of Proposals (ROP) and a draft 2014 NEC based on that ROP.

Here is a link to the entire ROP.

http://www.nfpa.org/assets/files/aboutthecodes/70/70-a2013-rop.pdf

Here is a link to the Draft 2014 NEC.

http://www.nfpa.org/assets/files/aboutthecodes/70/70-a2013-ropdraft.pdf

Please note that these are drafts and subject to change during the comment period and during subsequent Code Making Panel Actions as well as Technical Correlating Committee actions.

2.  The Solar ABCS is sponsoring a meeting with SEIA on Monday 27 August 2012 at Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in Northbrook, IL to provide an overview of the current draft Code and how it may impact future PV installations.  Please contact Larry Sherwood for details on the meeting and a possible telephone link.

3.  I have attached sections of the draft 2014 NEC for sections 690 and 705 as well as a table showing the Code Making Panel 4 actions.

And finally, here is a draft presentation that will be used at the meeting next Monday. It just briefly covers significant (non administrative) changes in 690 and 705 and shows some areas where comments may be warranted.

4.  As you review the Draft 2014 NEC and see areas where we can make improvements or corrections to the accepted Code proposals, please send me your well substantiated comments.  the from form for comments is in the back of the code and is also on the NFPA web site.  Please note that we cannot add new material at this stage or propose new changes, but we can comment on what has been previously changed.

See our web site below for more PV/NEC information and a schedule for the few remaining PV/NEC presentations throughout the country.
