Sounds like an old SMUD unit used in the Sacramento Municipal Utility
District in the mid 90's.
I don't remember exactly what the maximum input (would-be battery)
voltage they allowed
but basically hook the PV array to the battery terminals and software
would mppt it for maximum power.
