from the manufacturer would be the safest route to take. I know PV
glass is no standard issue product and must vary some from manu to
manu...composition, thickness, texture (or not), coatings? So I guess

I received some modules lately (and it has happened in the past) that have
some degree of silicon on the front glass. It is usually either some
spatter or a smear of sorts.
These are from a distributor warehouse and in most cases i've seen the
modules removed directly from the manufactur
