Hi Allen,
Another thing that you may want to talk with Schnieder about is if the "max
sell" about applies if there is AC coupling is involved. I believe that
the max sell amps is talking about how much the XW+ can pull off the DC
buss, not necessarily how much will flow to the main service throug
Have installed a 5548 and 6048 XW with IG Plus 10.0 with fair results.
On/Off when AC coupled during the test phase. I have not heard any complaints
from the homeowner.

The frequency shift will only taper charge using
all SMA equipment and an RS-485 Data Module and
data cables. With all other brands of grid tie
inverters, the Sunny Island will trigger and on / off charge scenario.

Hi Allen,
I would recommend a contactor to disconnect to Fronius at high SOC (or
voltage). It's pretty inexpensive to do it and most of the battery based
manufacturers recommend it.
I may be misunderstanding Jay, but I believe that the frequency shift in
this case would create an on/off type of
Also worth looking at Magnum's new AC diversion load system. It does
the frequency shifting but also 4 kw dump load that can be set up to any
AC electric load.

HI Allan,
The only reason to frequency shift is for “softer” charging.
VRLA are not as sensitive to the pulse type charging that a relay type charging
would do.
And regardless if you have frequency shift or not, you will still need (
especially with VRLA) a high voltage relay.
I recommend a SS
Hi Allen
I haven't tried this with Schneider, but we do have one system that
frequency shifts a Fronius IG Plus 10.0 from a pair of Sunny Islands.
Maybe a different degree of shifting is present. SMA tech support felt
confident.

I have only been able to get the IG, the sma 1800 and 2500 to either run or
go off line not slow down like the SMA Island does, we did instead use a
600 volt contactor to turn off on of the strings instead, this was an ok
work around. The pv shed seemed better then freq shut downs all the

Core question first: Will a ~2010 Fronius IG-4000 respond properly
to the frequency shift regulation supplied by a new Schneider
XW+5548 or XW+6848?
Situation: I haven't seen the Colorado site; I'm working as a
consultant to produce an upgrade component
