As a follow up, we went up there to assess. Sure enough, there were two AC neutral to ground bonds. We will see if this fixes the problem. Thanks! On Wed, Jan 15, 2020 at 10:23 AM Benn Kilburn wrote: > This may, or may not provide some helpful info > > >

Make sure the electric dryer is using a four prong outlet and pigtail. It could be that the smarts of the dryer is using 120v for its computer and with only three wires, current would flow on the ground. Thank you, Maverick > On Jan 14, 2020, at 8:04 PM, Mac Lewis wrote: > > > Hi

I had him check to see if it trips once the generator is latched and he said it does not trip. I thought I had verified all of the DC and AC bonding occurred only once in the system but its been a few years and it was a construction project so someone might have decided to bond the main service

Would be interesting to see if it happens if they are using the generator. Jay Peltz power. > On Jan 14, 2020, at 6:04 PM, Mac Lewis wrote: > > > Hi wrenches, > > I've got an off grid customer that has an external PV GFI breaker in his > charge controller that trips when the dryer is

Ray Yes you can have a GFI trip as a result of something on the AC side, I had a hard line data line cause a trip of a GFI even though you would not see anything on a meter, had to use a optical bridge to connect, granted this was Sunpower 327's on a Outback 7200 off grid but it can happen. This

If there is any current flow between DC negative and ground anywhere in the system, it will trip.  I would check the dryer for a ground fault, and I would check the system to make sure Neutral is not bonded to ground in more than one place (very common). Most importantly, I would make sure

Hi wrenches, I've got an off grid customer that has an external PV GFI breaker in his charge controller that trips when the dryer is on. He snuck in an electric dryer uggh However, I am curious what the mechanism might be to cause the trip. Will a ground fault on the AC side of an inverter trip
