I have no problem to export object from Maya to Realxtend right now. I'm not using rex mesh tool. Maybe your problem is related to faces and vertex normals, as maya is both sided if your normals are in the wrong direction, you won't see it, but in realxtend faces are not both sided. If you want I

I don't know Amira, but i've experience with the exportations and I suggest try to export through studio 3dmax, v 9.0, instead of using Maya. Export using the format .obj often result in loss of vertex with the associated surfaces that are lost and cause strange effects depending on the angle of ob
