The ABC has the most consistent coverage of Aboriginal issues.
I guess its like appointing Ruddock to be 'Reconciliation Minister'.
When you want to destroy something you have to appoint an expert.

ABC news budget to be slashed: report

 AAP --

The ABC's news and current affairs budget for television, radio and
online will reportedly be slashed by
 up to $10 million.

The budget cuts will be made to pay for managing director Jonathan
Shier's radical and expensive
restructure of the national broadcaster, The Australian newspaper
reports today.

According to the paper, the bill for Mr Shier's hand-picked executives
- earning up to $250,000 per
year - recruitment psychologists, headhunters, large payouts to sacked
executives and complex new
structure have led to the budget blowout.

The report says the ABC board is expected to approve on October 25 Mr
Shier's first internal budget -
which at least two of his new team have described as "horrendous".

The budget is understood to include significant cuts to programming,
resources, acquisitions and local
 production.
