For what it's worth - if you're going to this much trouble why not
just write a custom render tag that takes parameters for the info
placeholder and the guid of the page?

I have tried the same a year ago in version 7.5.
The only way I found to do that, is to reset the navigation index,
which is not really a solution cause it can last several hours and you
have to order your pages again after doing it.
If you find a solution, please let me know.
