I have been able to solve the problem. But the root cause is still not
clear. Following is the scenario in the code.
I have a class CriticalSection which is being used in the class for
locking.

Qt is good for RAD using Qt-Designer for any
desktop app. It is clean to code and purely OOps.
If you are a strong GNU supporter, GTK+ or - is
the answer. Gtk2 is very much reliable.
But GNOME2 and KDE3 libs can provide good
foundation classes for any app skeleton

Maybe some of your old hardware is getting tired (ram, cpu).
Maybe the cpu cooler does not spin as it shoud.
