We *WERE* warned... it's in the book! (fortunately I did not lose the
corporate database, just my entire Inbox).

patch I applied the patch to the src.rpm and rebuilt it within 10 minutes of
hearing about the issue (I had not noted it myself but I'm sure that I would
have!).

port. It's a simple matter with hosts.deny/hosts.allow to block a DOS attacker
or simply route the offending ip to "lo", and if it's port scanners you're after
