I am trying to connect a redhat 7.3 box to comcast. My windows box connects
right up with no extra information like hostname etc. All the info I find
about comcast says you have to have the hostname, but in this area you don't
need one. Can anyone help me?

A little more info will help :-) I am running my 7.3 box on comcast as
well, no problems. I did have to assign the hostname as the comcast
assigned one. Once I did that, DHCP worked fine. How are you trying to
