No problem, that's the way it's supposed to work. Basically, /sbin/halt
can detect how it's called and react accordingly. It's a pretty common
tactic in scripting languages like Bash and Perl too.

I know RH 6.1 supports RAID volumes during a new install, but does it
support RAID during an upgrade? I have a 5.2 box with a 2.2.14 kernel
that I want to upgrade, but I'm a bit worried...

AFAIK, there should be two different devices for your tape drive, one for
compressed writes and another for uncompressed rights. I'd point you at a
HowTo or something, but linuxdoc.org changed their site layout (*again*)
and I can't find a search box. (Wish they wouldn't do that)
