Actually, I did try booting up using the XP install
disc, but it attempts to install XP. What should I do
please?

I have dual system on my Compaq Evo N800C laptop. The
default is Red Hat 9, and the other one is Win XP.
Both were working find until probably I ran fsck or
e2fsck. I am not sure though.
I ran /sbin/lilo and got this fatal message:

erase, you will hear the annoying beep, right?
How can I disable beeps like this?
