Hey..
When I start a program from the gnome-terminal and put that in background by using &.
.. and now if I close the terminal the previously spawned program
is also dying.. how do i stop this behavior of the child getting terminated when i
terminate the parent?

directory names. I really dont have them in the files
which are actually setting the PATH variable.

When i installed it on my 20G hard disk.. the lilo
which was written by default by the installation was
not proper and it suggested me to edit the lilo.conf
to include the line "lba32" and remove "linear"... and
everything was working fine with that correctio

But when i source the /etc/profile now .. it is
getting set properly.
