I use a Samba server on Red Hat Linux 5.0 as a file server to Windows 95 and Windows NT. One of the files I share is a large (200MB) code respository file used by my development environment. When I set my environment to single user, ther performance is excellant. On the server, the file is locked in DENY_ALL mode. When I set it to multi-user, it drops to a crawl. On the server, the file is locked in DENY_NONE mode. I read the man pages regarding OPLOCKs, which may be the problem, since they are not supported. I don't want to fake them for fear of corruptions. Also, I saw the notes on the parameter "strict locks" but am afraid to change that. Any suggestions on how to improve this situation? The file sharing ran fine when the file was on a WIN 95 share, but I don't want to move back to that (especially since I would have to give the LINUX naysayers a victory!!!) jlo Jeff Odell Vice President, Development Esprit Health, LLC 5221B Ehrlich Road Tampa, FL 33624 eMail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Phone: 813-272-1807 -- PLEASE read the Red Hat FAQ, Tips, Errata and the MAILING LIST ARCHIVES! http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-FAQ /RedHat-Errata /RedHat-Tips /mailing-lists To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
