edit the /etc/profile file as such:

Current PATH statement should read as:

PATH=:$PATH:/usr/X11R6/bin

Modify to read as:

PATH=/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin

That'll remove the '.' for all users.
