under the fonts tag, add the full path of the font files
somethng like /usr/../unix/:7100

rpm is Redhat Package Manager,
The one that comes with the distribution,is the best choice I think

May be you should rebuild the rpm database
(see the man pages for rpm)
Another option is to uninstall these 2
packages and then try to install them again.
