I'd like to have logins locked out after 3 invalid attempts to enter a
 server. I would also like root to be notified by email when this occurs. 
 I would like this to be a system wide default. 
 
 I have found the password aging  chage  cmd which should allow me to
 force a user to change a password every 90 days.  However, again, I would
 like this to be a system wide default.
 
 Are there system default files, such as /etc/default/passwd and
 /etc/default/login in Solaris, for Linux rel 8?
