charset on Red Hat 8 ?

Access serial port on Linux client from server

Hi,   I have one server runiing Red Hat 7.2, and also have clients runnig Red Hat 7.2.   Is there any way to from the server access the serial port on the clients machine ?   My app is running on the server...but I need to write/read to/from a serial device attached on the client machine.
