What I did was get the source RPM from NVIDIA's website for the driver. http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=linux download the NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-2960.src.rpm that is at the bottom of the webpage.
also download the NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-2960.src.rpm file. Rebuild the source on your machine with "rpm --rebuild NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-2960.src.rpm" (This will put the correct rpm in the /usr/src/redhat/i386 directory.) Install that rpm and then edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file and comment out the lines: Load "GLcore" and Load "dri" Also change the DRIVER from nv to nvidia. Then rebuild the NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-2960.src.rpm rpm and install that the same way that the kernel driver was installed. Hope this helps, there may be a better way, but this worked for me. You will have to rebuild the driver each time you change the kernel. The same procedure worked for me with the 2.4.18-3 , 2.4.18-4, and 2.4.18-5 Redhat kernel updates. ~Sam On Sun, 2002-07-07 at 12:24, Lesniak, Steven wrote: > I've got a Dell C800 with the ATI Rage Mobility M4 video card and I can't > seem to get X running on. > > Has anyone gotten this working with good quality, because I can't get past > the setup? > > What settings for the Card and Screen should I use? > > Any advice will be greatly appreciated. > > TIA, > > Steven > > > > _______________________________________________ > Redhat-list mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list > _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
