If you recompile your kernel, look for SuperIO chipset support (EXPERIMENTAL),
it's below parallel port support, uncomment it and you get ride of the nasty
message. It doesn't hurt the normal work of the kernel.
You may have enabled Code maturity level options first to see the option.

I downloaded the iBCS-2.2.8 tarball, but I couldn't compile it using the
2.4.2 or the 2.4.4-pre1 kernels.
But I could compile it for the 2.2.16 and 2.2.18 kernels. Why the diference
?.
The last module precompiled that I get was for the 2.2.16.

You may use Portslave ( an excellent Radius Client ) and Cistron Radius.
Portslave allows you to connect even from a Windoze box, using autoppp,
it can assign you an IP on the Linux Server authenticated via the Radius,
Cistron is simple enough to set up on the same box.
