There once was a mythical mall security guard who was ordered to crack
down on pick-pockets. Whereupon he spied an unsavory character walk up
behind one lady after another, and deftly remove the cash from their
purses'... And said he to himself, I'm supposed to stop "pick-POCKETS"
not "pick-PURSES

I was under the impression that F-prot only scanned for M$ virii. Does
clamav scan for M$ virii, *nix virii, or both?
Linux virii? Name one? Yes there are a number of worms,
I think that ClamAV scans for virii in the sense depending on what is
submitted to the ClamAV crowd for inclusion in the virus database, at
last count there were about 8000+ virii and other malware being
detected.

Aly.

Hello I am running command line only RH9 machines and I am wondering if
anyone in the greater RH community has any opinions on open source AV
packages for linux. If you happen to be familiar with more than one, please
let me know their relative strengths and weaknesses. TIA, Robert.

Yeah...I'm using it.
AMaViS is a mail scanning system...you use it, in conjunction with your
mail server and an actual anti-virus package, to scan mail as it passes
through your system. It matters not how many users on the system you
have.

Anyone using amavis for a mail server type of app ? It looks like it will

Hi,
Trend Micro has virus software for Linux.
They also has software for most other platforms like Solaris and Novell.
I think their international web site is: http://www.trendmicro.com.
The south African site is: http://www.sd.co.za

Personally, I'm using H+BDEV AntiVir, located at http://www.antivir.de.
I have it set to scan my entire server, every night, and have it plugged
into AMaViS for email scanning.

for CCI Pty. Ltd.
We are currently installing antivirus software on
our network. I have noticed that Linux does not support "Symantec,
Norton Antivirus", which is the standard for all our other "Windows" based
