FYI.
I was doing several menu updates at the same time. I think the source
of the coolicon thing was an editor called Cooledit that was installed
at the same time I was doing Amaya. The panel crash had nothing to do
with it.
Had I run locate *cool*, I would have found everything I needed.

Oddly enough, this question led to the solution. The temptation was to
reply "whatever ships with RH 6.1" but this seemed . . . unhelpful.
Anyway, Patrick's question got me looking around in the /etc/X11
directory to try and
