Sorry for these many posts, just wanted to tell you that I found everything.
As I said, I could not choose the development package upon installation because installation failed. Now, I see that RH7.3 has put all the graphics libraries from mesa3d into the XFree86-devel package. Also the glut is given as glut-devel. In RH7.2 they called them by their names: Mesa-lib and Mesa-devel as I recall... Thank you so much to you all.
