I *thought* the reason I was seeing funny characters in MAN output
was due to the fact that I had set LANG=en in my environemnt,
however,
Even *with* LANG=en_US.UTF-8 I see the same funny character pairs
(which I assume are UTF-8 in the source).
Why are they NOT iterpreted correctly?
