Imap server, both see up to the task, if you pick UW Imap make sure
that you switch the default folder create format from what it is to
mbx.
for the clients you could use almost anything that supports imap :)

I am looking to migrate 380 accounts with their respective email messages from Novell
Groupwise 5.5 to a GPL mailing software under Linux. Does anybody has any experience
doing this and wants to share it?

We use Groupwise WEBACCESS here at work to read our groupwise mail over
the internet. In this case all you need is a browser to read your GW mail.
There is SMTP and POP for Groupwise which are separate and are probably
your best bet.
