Hi - I've noticed that one of my applications, which ran fine in 7.3, has a problem in 8.0. The program now displays any text entered as small squares, rather than, well, text. I get no error messages... Anyone have an idea what might be causing it or a workaround? Thanks, -Emiric

If you put an executable shell script in /etc/rc.d/ called rc.serial, it will be executed when your system is starting up. it is called from rc.sysinit around line 485. You can put your setserial stuff in it. For your sound card, just run the sndconfig utility. It should pick it up immediately.
