Hi - I've noticed that one of my applications, which ran fine in 7.3, has a
problem in 8.0. The program now displays any text entered as small squares,
rather than, well, text.
I get no error messages...
Anyone have an idea what might be causing it or a workaround?

I am looking for an equivalent of solaris 'gethrtime()' method. Is there a
method with high resolution in Red Hat? I have come accross 'timeofday'. Is
this the right method to use? 'gethrtime' guarantees 1 microsecond
precision.

No, you don't put it in ifcfg-eth0, etc. Depending o
Hi, you need to add "net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1" in the /etc/sysctl.conf
Don't forget to shutdown before trying to ping... (You can restart the
netowork services)

Are you logged in as root? If not, that'll be why it's not working.

I have found a peculiar problem when i go to write something in a floppy. I
mounted floppy device and I tried to copy a file but it says that "can not
create regular file, permission denied". But i checked the "fstab file " and
found it is as it should be. Normally I found "noauto, owner"

Hi there!
i have 2 questions:
1. In what file am i supposed to write the line for the setserial tool
in order to move my modem to an empty irq?
If you put an executable shell script in /etc/rc.d/ called rc.serial,
it will be executed when your system is starting up. it is called from
rc.sysinit around line 485. You can put your setserial stuff in it.
For your sound card, just run the sndconfig utility. It should pick it
up immediately.
