I have downloaded and burned the 5 RedHat CD images. I have created a 10
GB ext3 partition, between C and D, but I am not sure if this must to be
before Cylinder 1028. I am ready to install Linux, but I would like to
install the boot manager on a floppy, as you say. Could you
1. You download and burn the RedHat CD images (CD 1-3 will do it if you
dont need the sources - I think you dont).
2. Create a 3-?? (your choice) GB empty space on your hard drive. The
linux installer can do it for you, but I think if you know some about
partitions, its better to do this by yoursel

Try typing "linux mediacheck" at the initial boot prompt. I seem to
remember being asked when I installed via cdrom, but I could be wrong as
I do all my installs via nfs

That's not right - one of the first things it does is give you the option to
do a media check.
Has done so on both PCs I've installed.
Check again.

a quick question. when copying the files from the cds to the disk for
install via ftp/http, should i copy all the files from all 3 cds to the same
folder or to differnet folders in the same directory??? i can't find any
documentation that is explicit in whic way to do it. copying the files t
