Hi all, I have RH 4.2 on my pentium machine and since I need g77 along with gcc, I upgraded (via rpm) to gcc-2.7.2.3-5 and installed the same version of gcc-g77 rpm as well. There was no error during the upgrade other than that there was an incompatibility between g77 and f2c and I had to uninstall f2c. g77 is working fine, but I am having trouble with gcc now. When I type gcc foo.c, I get the error: gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-unknown-linux-gnulibc1/2.7.2.3.f.1/cpp' Exec format error When I go the the appropriate directory and do 'ls -l cpp' I notice that the execution permission is enabled but it has zero size. I have the original libc (libc-5.3.12-18). I was wondering if there is an incompatibility between libc5 and gcc-2.7.2.3 although the rpm installation did not complain about anything. I got these packages from http://www.redhat.com/linux-info/pkglist/i386.html If there is an incopatibility, are there compatible versions of g77 and gcc that work well with RH 4.2? What packages I need to download?
