I had some more time to kill on sensor config today
;) and I had success!
I cannot find the how-to that got me running on the
LTSP Server again, unfortunately, but I recall running
/prog/detect/sensors-detect
depmod -a
and
sensors -s
although not necessarily in that
order.
Funny thing is that on a whim I copied the settings
from my duallie ( dual Intel P3 on an Acorp motherboard) and ran them on my dev
pc (AMD cpu and Epox motherboard.)
VERY different systems, but the sensor turns out to
work the same!
sensors-detect never did find the chip on the AMD
pc, but with the i2c info entered it works fine.
NOTE on i2c: with RedHat 8 it is built into the
kernel although I don't think the chip support is complete yet; with 7.3 I
had to download and compile i2c from the lm_sensors site to get it
working.
