I am looking for ideas. I have a C++ program that I would like to optimize.
I have tried -O3 and some other options and -O2 actually does better than -O3

Anyone have any suggestions for combinations of options that might improve over

-O2 -fomit-frame-pointer

-fexpensive-optimizations did not help, actually made it worse.

Does making a cpu specific executable (-march=i686 ) make any differenence?

The program I am looking at is related to chessbench and I was told it is almost
twice as fast in windows as linux. I don't see anything obvious (and have not
tested a windows version myself, no windows compiling for me!).

Best regards.
