As re: LILO, if one upgrades the kernel via up2date, as I have done, one gets the identical outcome as attributed below to grub. I now have 4 kernels (2 smp, two single processor) on my machine. Good old lilo.conf lets me set the default. At boot time, I can select any of the installed. So, on this point, looks like a tie, to me.
