Unfortuntly I am ... a StarView if I recall correctly. (Not at the machine
ATM). So, I would say that that is one kvm switch to avoid (unless I can
figure out how to make it work) under Linux (works brilliant

Not to be discouraging, but I've noted that mice frequently have
trouble with these boxes under the best of conditions. Some PS/2
ports just won't work with them at all, and some operating systems (as
you've seen) handle some configurations better than others. I
frequently have to reboot a part

There is no problem if you are changing over from ps/2 to serial port
Use the mouseconfig tool (be in root ) to achieve your
objective.
