Hi all, newbie here with a question.

I upgraded from RH 7.2 to RH 9, and when I did so I added KDE to the install, just so I could play around with it. My default Gnome desktop works fine, but when I uses the session menu from the login to select KDE, I get a terse dialog saying "Could not start kdeinit. Check your installation." The dialog is obviously from X, just from the style.

I've been mucking around with /etc/sysconfig/desktop and a few other things, but nothing seems to help. I'm not really sure what to look for, "could not start" is not really a lot to go on. I've also determined that I have no files such as ~/.xserverrc or ~/.Xsession .

Is there some sort of point by point check list of the steps to get KDE running? Note I want to be able to switch between KDE and Gnome.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
