How much free space do you have on the drive that has your "Temporary Internet Files" directory on it (C:\windows\ by default)? If it is less then the size of the image then you may have a problem as IE will store it there then copy it over to your target directory. Most other browsers write directly to your target file. Also remember it has to be over by a significant amount if the swap file is also on that drive as they are known to grow during a download of that size as well.
