for reasons you don't really want to hear, i was curious about
the contents of the latest kernel source rpm shipped with red hat 7.2 --
that is, 2.4.7-10. so i removed and re-installed it, took a recursive
snapshot of all of the files, did "make clean", took another snapshot,
and finally "make
