Hi,

I have just installed Redhat 8 and I am reasonably happy with it, except
for a few issues that keep annoying me endlessly:

1. My sound settings are forgotten. Every time I start up, I have to go
into the mixer and turn up the volumes etc; surely this information
should be saved somewhere? I use an Avance Logic ALS4000 based card, but
even so....

2. The middle button doesn't work on the desktop - it works on the
consoles, so the problem is somewhere in X. How can I enable it?

3. It seems a lot of basic desktop configuration features have
disappeared; even the gnome-toolbox is gone. And of course there's no
documentation what so ever; apart from the obvious stuff.

I realize that Redhat are tring to make the desktop look like Windows,
but to me the fact that it used NOT to be just like Windows was a major
bonus. What can I do to get back to the desktop that I like?

/jan
