Sorry about the repost, but I have not seen this e-mail return to me, or
seen any others from the list for about 4 days now.

I would appreciate if anyone has any ideas on my problem (below).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am running RH6.2 on a Compaq Deskpro PIII/600 with 128MB Ram and U/W scsi
disk (connected to a DAC960 controller). I have no problems with the disks,
and performance is great. My problems occur when trying to restore data from
an Seagate AIT tape drive (25/50).

The drive is connected to an Adaptec 29160N scsi controller. Linux is using
the AIC7xxxx driver for this device. Using cpio -i , I get an error
messages such as: "cpio skipped xxxx blocks of junk". Also, tar gives me
similar errors. I have also tried dump and taper with similar results. I
have tried cleaning the drive, different tape cartridges etc.

Does anyone have nay ideas on this?

Regards
Enrico Payne
