Hello Guru's and Practitioners:

I'm between a big rock and a real hard place. The company I work for as
a Systems Tech. is running numerous scan PC's with Windows98. They are
currently buying and setting up a Sun server to connect the 3 little
plants we have. Once that is completed (approx. 2 months) we'll begin
setting up the scan systems to run on RH. I am known as the only one
that has any Linux experience so the project was just dropped in my lap.
Therefore, I NEED HELP!!!

The basic procedure is an order is placed and forwarded to the
warehouse. Then a person will pull the order and scan each part as it's
pulled and packed for that order and then forwarded to shipping. The
scanning is accomplished with either a 1D or 2D Symbol scan gun and the
data is broadcast via the wireless network to a PC which checks the
order and verifies the correct part pulled and prints a summary report
for billing and a label for shipping. I have to setup the PC's on the
wireless network.

I have already started downloading Symbol software for Linux but that
only covers the data exchange from the PC to the scan gun (actually a
data terminal) and data back to the PC. What I need help with is the
programs that accepts the data and generate the report and automatically
prints the label on a Sato thermal printer.

Does anyone know of or have a similar setup running on Linux that can
give me some direction? I don't know of any programs that are capable of
doing this.

Thanks.
