I have a problem with a client who I have recently set up Samba for. He is
trying to install a Windows program that relies on the Windows algorithm for
generating the 8.3 filename conversions of long filenames. Samba appears to
be using a totally different algorithm.

Example:

Create a directory called "TestDirectory"
Samba creates an 8.3 filename of TESTD~Y7 but Windows creates TESTDI~1

Now create a directory called "TestDirectory2"
Samba creates an 8.3 filename of TESTD~W@ but Windows creates TESTDI~2

Does anyone know of any way to configure Samba to use the Windows algorithm
for filename mangling?
