I'm running Redhat 7.3 on a Sony Vaio PCG-FX220 laptop.
The NIC this laptop shipped with is physically broken and doesn't operate but
Red Hat automatically assigns it to eth0. I removed the line 'alias eth0
eepro100' from modules.conf to prevent the load failure on bootup, but I'm not
certain the NIC isn't interfering with the OS's ability to recognize the newer
Etherfast peripheral.
The device is a USB Linksys Etherfast network adaptor that
isn't detected by the system. I'm completely new to linux and have
searched the web and IRC for answers with no conclusive results. Does
anyone know how to get Red Hat to recognize this USB device and enable it?
Any leads or instructions on how to do this would be greatly
appreciated.
