ipchains vs iptables with 7.3 new install

Just a thought... if you can't telnet to the box -- are you sure that
telnetd is running and listening on the port you are expecting it to be?

That is not necessarily the case.
/etc/sysconfig/ipchains only exists if you run the "service ipchains save"
command (or something else runs it).
To see if it's running, try "service ipchains status" or "ipchains -L".
