We upgraded to the recent ypserv-2.5-2.7x on our RedHat 7.3 box over the
weekend. Since then, we've had automounter issues. The most serious one
is with Solaris 2.8 and 2.9 clients, where NIS user information is sent
correctly, but autofs on the client boxes don't seem to do anything.
In the log files on the Linux ypserver, I see many entries like the
following:

Nov 6 12:07:21 linuxbox ypserv[6107]: refused connect from solarisbox:32885
to procedure ypproc_first
Nov 6 12:07:34 linuxbox ypserv[6107]: refused connect from solarisbox:32888
to procedure ypproc_match

These messages are new.

The output for "ypcat auto.home" looks correct on the client box, and
it's pointing at the correct ypserver. /etc/ypserv.conf on the server
is the one from the RPM and it looks OK.

I've tried restarted ypserv on the linux box (which also is problematic:
I get a bunch of RPC errors immediately after the ypserv restart when I do
a "ps -auxw |grep yp". These errors go away after the other yp daemons
such as ypbind and yppasswd are restarted), as well as restarting the
rpc services and autofs on the Sun boxes.

Another, possibly related issues, is that the Makefile in /var/yp
failed to pick up a recently changed auto.home file. Everything looks
correct in the Makefile, in terms of pointing to the correct files,
but the auto.home didn't get updated until I manually issued a
"make -f /var/yp/Makefile auto.home".

Any ideas? I'm probably rolling back to the version of ypserv that
comes off the CD tonight unless we can figure out what's going on with
the new version.

Thanks.
