3.6 will always be supported for bug fixes, but will not receive new
features if I can help it. It is stable supported code, and should be
kept that way.
Regarding the journaling implementation, let's see what Chris says
before I comment.

Surely we don't want this. Look at the papers on Namesys's websites,
about the atomicaty and the banking example. But that's just my
personal opinion. Besides, I believe it's more likely that usually
the power gets lost than the SCSI or IDE cable gets disconnected,
AFAIK.

reiserfstune -l LABEL
should do the job.
(and xfs_admin for XFS, jfs_tune for JFS ;)

How much would it cost?
1'000$ ? 10'000$?

here's a noob question. I have a usb HD using reiserfs 3.6
I want to change the label of the disk, so when it's automounted, the
mounting point has some meaning such as "backup" instead of "usbdisk"
fstab-sync seems to use the label of the disk to create a mounting point.
mkfs.reiserfs -l label

This table is interesting but have really no sense the "no inclusion" of
a minimal comparision about performance.

in the thread "REISERFS_MAX_NAME and ENAMETOOLONG" it is stated, that max.
filename length is not a kernel limit but a libc limit of 255 chars.

I don't suppose your reiserfs share is mounted with noexec, is it?
Because that would explain the issue...

Hello.
I noticed that the Reiserfs has some problems related to meta-data journaling.
I suppose that transactions regarding meta-data should be written to a
disk every
meta-data change (for example, i_size is increased) in ordered-mode while
synchronous
writing is performed. But, it seem
Interestingly WinFS will revamp permissions drastically. Any query can be
joined with any other query of like data.
ie, you can do a calandar query for people who you've had meetings with in
the last 30 days. Save the query. Then do a permissions query of all
permissions for a set of directori

wait for sponsors for. I can only do so much, so I try to do what no
one else will do.
