International demonstration against the World Economic
Forum (WEF) 25th January Davos Switzerland
From the 25 of January to the 28 of January the
WEF(www.weforum.org),a meeting of the richest
multinational corporations
and government buearacrats more than 1.000 (mostly
european) "global leaders" from politics,medias and
economy are meeting in Davos ski
ressort, Switzerland.(www.davos.ch)
They discuss in a "private setting" about
ways of making oppression and exploitation more
efficient and more profitable. The WEF, which claims
its mission is to help "eradicate poverty, promote
security and enhance cultural understanding" is more
often that not seen to represent the interests of
multinational corporations. It's members include
microsoft, coca cola, nestle, shell and hundreds
more.
For 31 years the annual meeting of the WEF (world
economic forum) has taken place in Davos. Except
last year(2001) the WEF went to New-York City. This
year the WEF comes back to Davos for its annual
meeting .
The WEF-summit in Davos is another attempt to
minimise the social and political rights in favour
of the benefit of the capital - owners. The last
summits have shown, that a critical public isn't
welcome, neither inside nor outside the
conference-buildings. Due to the past years
mobilisation in Davos,the Swiss authorities have this
year authorized the demonstration in Davos on the 25
of January.In 2001 the demonstration was forbiden and
all, who protest against the
meetings with their voice and their presence, were
confrontated with a massive repression on the part
of the police. The state authorities protect the
economy-bosses and the politicians with every method
available (legal but also illegal) and try to
suppress every single critic. 2003 should be easier
as the demonsatration is authorised. But we are going
to confront the rulers
with resistance that cannot be ignored.
In Switzerland and in other countrys some autonomous
groups have met to
prepare and co-ordinate the actions against the
wef-summit in Davos and also to support
international mobilisation. The following four
points show the basis of our cooperation and our
political self-image:
- we disapprove of the WEF and our attitude towards
it is confrontative. It is impossible to reform the
WEF, because of this we don¹t want to have any
dialogue. our aim is, to smash the wef and to
prevent their meetings. But the WEF is only one
specific institution of the capitalistic system of
exploitation, which we disapprove of completely. our
protest does not end with a smashed wef, our fight
is against capitalism which can not be civilised -
its own logic and rules together with other forms of
oppression like sexism, racism, homophobia,
antisemitism characterise the injustice of our
world.
- Our protest is against categorising, marginalising
and excluding people and social groups; our aim is a
society, that is orientated to the needs of all and
not to the profit of a few. our protest contains the
use of resources and information equal to all
people. In our actions and in our kind of organising
we try to live our own utopia. We are against a
society based on hierarchy and control. We
disapprove of the state as a place of capitalistic
actions and we also refuse the new
institutionalisation of the capitalistic
exploitation by world economic forum, international
monetary fonds or world trade organisation. Our
answer is our protest, are our own actions. We do
not rely on political parties or lobbies, we express
our criticism together, independently and
unmistakeably. The ways of protesting and showing
the criticism depend on the people who express them.
In our resistance there should be room for different
kinds of actions and there should be no limits to
creativity.
- the protest against the wef-summit in Davos is not
the only thing, it is only one part of the global
resistance against oppression and exploitation. Our
solidarity is with all oppressed, who do not want to
accept the prevailing contradictions without
criticism, and our solidarity is with all, who
realize their power and organise emancipated
resistance. But as we are part of the prevailing
contradictions, we have to question our positions
all the time. Our action is a reaction on the
prevailing situation, it is a logical and necessary
answer to the ruling politics and the politics of
the rulers.
- the wef-summit is used by the Swiss
government to create a distinctive image of
themselves as equal partners in the international
context. our protest against the wef-summit is
connected with our resistance against the Swiss
government politics, against racist and sexist
politics and
against the neoliberal basic position of our
society.

Non au WEF, non à la guerre, oui à la justice sociale.
Appel à le manifestation contre le World Economic Forum. Davos
25.01.03
Le World Economic Forum (WEF) est le regroupement des milles
plus grandes entreprises du monde. C'est un organe élitaire et
dominé par la gente mas-culine qui ne détient aucune légitimité
démocratique. Le WEF soutient la prise d'influence des groupes
industriels transnationaux dans le domaine politique.
Les représentants du WEF prétendent vouloir améliorer le monde
par leurs initiatives. Dans les faits, l'élite réunie à Davos
n'a pour seuls objec-tifs que d'augmenter les profits des grands
consortiums ainsi que de conso-lider la logique du
néolibéralisme.
En Suisse, le néolibéralisme menace les services publics et met
en danger la sécurité sociale. Il pousse les agricultrices et
les agriculteurs à la ruine et augmente le nombre des working
poor. Ce néolibéralisme et respon-sable du pillage toujours plus
grand des ressources, de la pauvreté et de la faim sur toute la
planète. Nous nous engageons pour un monde dans lequel les
droits de l'Homme sont respectées et les conditions nécessaires
à une vie décente protégées.
Les Global Leader autoproclamés ont encore et toujours démontré
qu'ils considèrent la guerre comme outil légitime de la
politique. Cette année, lors du colloque du WEF, de nombreux
représentants gouvernementaux feront la publicité pour une
politique guerrière toujours plus agressive. Nous di-sons non à
la guerre, que ce soit avec ou sans mandat de l'ONU.
Par nos protestations et nos actions de désobéissance civile,
nous voulons rompre le silence, imposé lui aussi par le WEF, qui
pèse sur les inégalités sévissant ici et dans le monde. Notre
campagne culminera lors des démons-trations du 25 janvier. Nous
prions les autorités de ne pas empêcher la ma-nifestation. Nous
demandons à la Confédération de laisser les militaires dans leur
caserne; l'armée n'ayant rien à faire au milieu de manifestants!
Nous ne nous laissons pas embrigader dans une logique militaire.
Nous ex-primerons nos protestations de manière variée et dans le
respect mutuel. Nous nous engageons pour le respect de
l'intégrité corporelle de chacun. Nous avons confiance dans les
forces et les initiatives du mouvement qui s'engage pour une
globalisation depuis la base et qui cherche des alterna-tives au
système économique patriarcal et capitaliste.
Tous ceux qui luttent pour un monde solidaire dans lequel la
pauvreté n'a pas sa place sont invités à manifester avec nous à
Davos contre le WEF et en faveur de la globalisation de la
justice.

Kein WEF. Kein Krieg. Für soziale Gerechtigkeit.
Aufruf zur Grossdemonstration gegen das World Economic Forum.
Davos 25.1.03
Das World Economic Forum (WEF) ist der Zusammenschluss der
tausend grössten Unternehmen der Welt. Es ist ein elitäres,
männerdominiertes Gremium, das keine demokratische Legitimation
besitzt. Das WEF steht für die politische Einflussnahme der
transnationalen Konzerne.
Die Exponenten des WEF behaupten, mit ihren Initiativen die Welt
verbessern zu wollen. In Tat und Wahrheit versuchen die in Davos
versammelten Eliten, die Profitraten der grossen Konzerne zu
steigern und die Logik des Neolibe-ralismus zu festigen.
In der Schweiz bedroht die neoliberale Politik den Service
Public und ge-fährdet die soziale Sicherheit. Er treibt
Bäuerinnen und Bauern in den Ruin und macht immer mehr Menschen
zu working poor. Weltweit ist der Neolibera-lismus für die
verschärfte Plünderung der Ressourcen, für Armut und Hunger
verantwortlich. Wir treten für eine Welt ein, in der die
Menschenrechte ge-achtet und die Lebensgrundlagen geschützt
werden.
Die selbsternannten Global Leader haben immer wieder gezeigt,
dass sie Krieg als legitimes Mittel der Politik betrachten. In
diesem Jahr werden zahlreiche RegierungsvertreterInnen an der
Jahrestagung des WEF für eine immer schrankenlosere
Kriegspolitik werben. Wir sagen Nein zum Krieg - ob mit oder
ohne UNO-Mandat.
Mit unseren Protesten und Aktionen des zivilen Ungehorsams
wollen wir die auch vom WEF verordnete Ruhe über die
Ungerechtigkeiten hier und weltweit brechen. Unsere Kampagne
wird in der grossen Demonstration vom 25. Januar gipfeln. Wir
fordern die Behörden auf, diese Demonstration nicht zu behin-
dern. Den Bund fordern wir auf, das Militär in den Kasernen zu
lassen; die Armee hat an einem Demonstrationsanlass nichts zu
suchen.
Wir lassen uns nicht in eine militärische Logik einspannen. Wir
werden un-seren Protest auf vielfältige Weise und in
gegenseitigem Respekt ausdrü-cken. Wir treten dafür ein, dass
die körperliche Unversehrtheit aller res-pektiert bleibt. Wir
vertrauen auf die Kräfte und Initiativen der Bewegun-gen, die
für eine Globalisierung von unten eintreten und nach
Alternativen zum patriarchal-kapitalistischen Wirtschaftssystem
suchen.
Alle, die für eine solidarische Welt ohne Armut eintreten, rufen
wir dazu auf, mit uns zusammen in Davos gegen das WEF und für
die Globalisierung der Gerechtigkeit zu demonstrieren.
