Recent polls suggest that most Americans are opposed to preemptive war against Iraq. Hundreds of peace organizations have endorsed the anti-war rally. Students are coming to Washington from over 400 campuses across the US. Organizers expect tens of thousands of people to confront the Administration's war threats and to demonstrate that if there is any consensus in the United States it is NO TO WAR ON IRAQ. Speakers at the Rally include: Former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney; Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, Auxiliary Bishop, Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit; Jessica Lange, actor; Mike Farrell, actor; Elizabeth McAlister, Jonah House, widow of peace activist Philip Berrigan; Ron Kovic, Vietnam Veteran and author of Born on the Fourth of July, Ramsey Clark, former U.S. Attorney General; Rev. Al Sharpton, National Action Network; Rev. Herbert Daughtry, national pastor, House of the Lord Church, Brooklyn. January 18th Rally launches Free Speech TV's special ongoing programming: "Mobile-Eyes: Who Wants War?" In coming months FSTV reporters and camera crews will criss-cross the United States asking people their opinions of the US war on Iraq, the war on terror, the targeting of Asian, African and Middle Eastern immigrants, and the restriction of civil liberties in the name of "homeland security." At the beginning of February, a Free Speech TV team will tour the southern United States in our new "Free Speech TV Bus", a fully outfitted production studio on wheels with satellite uplink equipment. Our investigations of issues of economic justice at home and war abroad take us through Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana. What is Free Speech TV?
