I (slightly) disagree for 2 reasons:
1. A low-pass filter, depending on the design, can also be subject to spurious

Looking for a rg-142 cable assembly, terminated BNC male on one end
and N-male on the other. Can be 1-2 feet long. Every business I
have contacted has a $100 minimum to order. Does anyone know of
somewhere I can get just this one assembly without dealing with this
minimum order situation?

I usually use a 2N3904 NPN transistor ... or the PNP equivalent 2N3906

Hi Bob;
Great hard data!
It also shows the need for a low pass filter in front of your receiver on
high level sites.

I
have done the same thing but have used a 7404 TTL level inverter. But if your COS level goes any higher then about 5.5vdc you will blow
the 7404. I also like using the NTE2358 Digital transistor it has all the bias
resistors build in and is a snap to hook up and put in service.
That
circuit actually should work fine. All it is doing is reversing the logic
of your COS signal. When COS is present (+5V), 0V will be present at the output,
+5V will be at the output when COS is not present.
