We have used the mod available at:

with good success. The bi-quad feed works well for us.
PrimeStar dishes are usually available for the taking, you just have to
look. Some catv headends used them too, so ask the local cable tech.

You would be better off finding some used MMDS antennas on 2.4 GHz
instead of messing with the offset Primestar dishes.
I have tried the Primestar Wifi modification that can be found on the
web with limited success. Never could get a reliable link. However

fiberglass dishes. The finances are low on this project.
