The TK-7180 is the VHF Radio and the TK-8180 is the UHF Radio and yes I have have made repeaters out of/from both radio models in the same and cross band. Not to mention adding a third linking and repeater link port... It's not super easy (requires a game plan and some serious information) but it can and is often done. It's a great idea to assume you should have and use some type of cavity filtering (notch and/or pass) in the radio antenna leads if you expect to use anything but very low RF Power output levels. cheers, s. skipp025 at yahoo.com www.radiowrench.com
