As he stated later on, his cable worked with a MaxTrac
and a GM300. Both of these are mobiles, so I think
it's safe to assume that his GTX is a mobile as well
as they all use the same RJ45 programming cable.

The programming line doesn't go too far into the
radio. You could try grounding the programming line,
Mobile or Portable? The portable needs to be powered, if so.
More than likely it has been programmed with a newer RSS as Mike said.

Sounds like someone may have used a newer version of RSS than yours
they are not backward compatible... That is the only guess I would have...
